Touched By Time
Permanent public commission

Touched by Time is a permanent public sculpture commissioned to mark Arlington’s 150th anniversary. A layered glass column rises from the plaza, its strata catching and bending daylight as the sun moves across the sky. At its base, an interactive sundial invites visitors to read the hour themselves, turning the earth’s rotation into something they can see and take part in. Together, the column and the dial give time a physical form, built up in layers and read through light and shadow. Ginsberg treats glass as an instrument, here set to measure a single day against the slow accumulation of a city’s history
